Creating a Better Tomorrow Together with Partnership

Precision Facilities Management is fully aware that strong, lasting collaborations are what really make projects successful. Our collaboration on the Bridgewater Project for Unipart at one of the NHS’s supply chain locations is proof of this. In fact, the project was not only about installing new machines but also about working closely with the client, understanding their requirements, and ensuring no disruption to operations.

Project Scope: Unipart Group HVAC Replacement

The HVAC systems at the Bridgewater site were completely overhauled as part of the project. The existing units were outdated and beginning to malfunction, so we were tasked with carefully removing the old units and replacing them with a modern Mitsubishi system. The cutting-edge technology included software, making it easier for the client to monitor and control the system than before.
The goal was straightforward: to turn the building into a safe, reliable, and comfortable environment for users while ensuring the site continued to operate smoothly. A busy NHS supply chain meant downtime was not an option.

    Confronting Challenges Directly

The strap-out process for the site led us to a delightful surprise: the old site, as usual. The new units’ dimensions were also not as expected. Our staff didn’t panic or cause delays; rather, they took immediate action. We conducted a rapid, comprehensive assessment, and the answer was to slightly modify the mezzanine wall so the units fit perfectly.
In addition, the supplier for the system was changed from Daikin to Mitsubishi. It provided better performance while maintaining the same cost for clients. Such on-the-spot decisions and minor adjustments are what really matter in projects like this.
So smoothly, that kind of cooperation between the participants.
The major reason behind the project’s successful outcome was the tight cooperation of the different parties involved. Our Project Manager, Laura Brookes, was present on the site every day, monitoring the progress, reporting on health and safety issues, and even sending photos to keep the client informed. The team maintained continuous communication, so there were no uncertainties at all.

Moreover, we organised our work around the times when the site had the most activity. There were some parts occupied almost throughout the day, and others that experienced brief quiet periods. By modifying the timetable to reflect the actual site conditions, we managed to keep disruption very slight. It may seem trivial, but it is a big deal for a supply chain site that is constantly busy.

    Why This Project Is Important

The Bridgewater Project is not only about installing modern air-conditioning and ventilation systems but also about enhancing the comfort of the people working on the site daily. The new Mitsubishi installation provides greater reliability in environmental control and safety, as well as easier monitoring.

On the other hand, it demonstrates the good results of the genuine cooperation between the client and the facilities management partner. The project culminated in success thanks to flexibility, solving problems right away, and continuous communication. For Unipart, it was a matter of receiving exactly what they wanted with no additional waiting or pressure.

    Final Thoughts

This project showcases the efficacy of the practical, hands-on approach over the rigid plan. Understanding the site was our priority, and we adapted to the challenges while keeping all stakeholders updated. This is what creates the synergy of such partnerships and the assurance that projects are not only finished but also done to perfection.
Precision FM managed to provide a better, more reliable HVAC system that will last for many years in the Bridgewater site by simply keeping the process straightforward, being flexible, and remaining client-focused.
