Precision Marks the Spot: An NHS Success Story
Both as part of the comprehensive FM services we offer and owing to the strength of our client relationships, we are frequently asked if we can take on additional jobs or specialist tasks.
Recently, our team was called upon to execute a crucial line marking project both internally and externally at four sites for a client that provides logistical and warehousing services on behalf of the NHS.
A clearly defined task
As we already delivered a full range of maintenance services for the client and having already established our credibility as a valued FM partner, they asked if we could take on a line re-marking project, both internally and externally across four of their sites nationally. The lines marked within a warehouse environment help bring clarity and safety in areas frequented by pedestrians and vehicles. These markings, often taken for granted, are crucial in directing traffic flow, demarcating zones, and providing critical visual cues to avoid potential hazards.
In environments like logistics hubs and warehousing sites, especially those associated with critical operations such as the NHS, the precision and clarity of line markings are paramount. They streamline operations by clearly indicating pathways and zones and significantly reduce the risk of accidents, ensuring a smooth flow of operations and the safety of all involved.
The existing markings were heavily deteriorated and from a health and safety perspective, it was important that those markings were made clear again as soon as possible, limiting the impact on business operations.
Line of Duty
Our robust procurement process is tailored to ensure that every supplier and contractor, who represents Precision FM on-site, aligns with our ethos of fantastic customer service through exceptional people. Having previously worked with an outsourced line marking team, we got in touch and arranged a series of site visits to understand what was required at each location.
We’re proud of our commitment to engaging only top-notch contractors, and only choose teams we can depend upon and who can get the job done right, first time around.
Cost savings, while important, never supersede the importance of quality and safety. Is it any wonder we’ve got a 98% client retention rate when we approach every task this way?
Working around client needs
With the right team in place, we made an analysis of all areas to ensure the line markings would be ideally positioned for both efficiency and safety. Collaborating closely with the client allowed us to understand the nuanced requirements of the client at every site.
To minimise disruption and maximise efficiency, especially given the bustling nature of an NHS-associated site, the team did the majority of the work during off-peak hours, or during periods when the site was less active.
This strategic scheduling, combined with the deployment of state-of-the-art technology and the use of a specialised paint known for its rapid drying properties, ensured that our activities had a negligible impact on warehouse services.
After the application, a thorough inspection was conducted across all sites, and we were happy to see that every marked area had been painted correctly first round time.
Crossing the finish line
Elements like new line markings might go unnoticed by many but they’re something people use every day. We walked away having created an efficient, safe, and responsive environment for the client.
Reflecting on the project, Peter Hutchinson, Account Manager at Precision FM commented: “It’s always a great feeling to watch all our efforts come together, particularly when it’s geared towards something as crucial as aiding the NHS. We’re genuinely proud to play our part. This endeavour perfectly encapsulates Precision FM’s ethos.
“We don’t just handle assigned tasks; we’re versatile and always willing to take on additional work to meet our clients’ evolving needs. Our focus is on rolling up our sleeves, adjusting to the unique requirements of each project, and fortifying the trust we’ve built with our clients over time.
“If there’s a gap in our in-house expertise, we don’t hesitate to collaborate with reliable partners who share our commitment to quality. It’s all about ensuring we deliver, every single time.”
